+1 more

A very well-organized trip, everything on time. A little more time would have been useful in Pompeii. We will definitely come back here again.

We had very little wait at the tourist office having booked early and were able to walk straight into the park. I advise the audio rather than the guide book - it wasn't well translated at times and missed some interesting points of interest. Makes a nice souvenir though.

Well organized archaeological site and thanks to the map given to us at the entrance, we were able to visit it independently. Recommended experience!

Easy to find on leaving the airport as it is well signposted. I bought my tickets in advance from France and it works great. I recommend it 100%. Top value for money. When I come back to Naples, I won't hesitate to use Alibus again.

Amazing! Very large territory, many interesting historical objects. Special atmosphere. Shoes should be as comfortable as possible.

Mt. Vesuv is such a dominant feature that a peek down into the seemingly dormant (but smoky) crater and a stunning view from the rim is a must. Even on a calm and sunny day it can get very WINDY so bring a sweater, robust shoes (hike boots are nice, but not a necessity) and a windbreaker. Coffee and snacks are available several places en route. You have two hrs to get up to the crater rim which is fine for most people. The audio guide consists of rather short pieces of info and it is not a must. The view over Bay of Napoli and it's islands is stunning! Down in Pompeii you have roughly one hour for lunch. Plenty of eateries, but expensive, so consider buying lunch in Napoli. A very knowledgeable guide led us around for more than two hours. We missed a bit time on our own, but that could probably have been arranged. The Italian accent of our guide took some time getting used to, but consider dropping the headphones and just stay close to the guide. Be prepared for a long ride back to central Napoli in the rush hour. All in all a beautiful and interesting tour :-)

Very good excursion. Enough time at each site. It's not rushed, you have plenty of time to see everything there is to see, except perhaps at Pompeii, for those who really want to see everything.

Vesuvius and Pompeii were fantastic. Could certainly have spent longer at Pompeii and perhaps a bit less time at Herculaneum. The tour itself was well organised and very pleasant tour staff A bit more information in advance would have been helpful eg a rough itinerary Also on the itinerary we did get it said the price of entry to the 3 sites was not included when it was We almost bought separate tickets but thankfully didn't But those flight concerns aside a fantastic day and would recommend

Tips & guidelines

  • Even in summer, mornings in Pompeii can feel cool; wear layers including a light jacket and bring a hat for both sun and unexpected wind fluctuations throughout the tour.
  • Wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes with good grip since Pompeii’s uneven stone paths and steps require reliable footwear to ensure comfort and safety during the guided walk.
  • Bring a refillable water bottle and sunscreen to protect yourself; Pompeii’s open layout offers little shade, and hydration is essential during extended periods of walking.
  • Follow your guide’s instructions closely and stick with your group to navigate Pompeii’s sprawling ruins; staying together avoids getting lost or missing key historical highlights.
  • Check local weather forecasts in advance, as summer heat can be intense and rainwater might make surfaces slippery; prepare accordingly to maintain safety and enjoyment throughout your tour.
